For those interested, a brief summary of the book follows. For 30 years, Albert Einstein struggled to reconcile the theories of General Relativity and the Quantum Theory. The Unified Field Theory, sometimes comically referred to as the theory of everything, has found a champion with what scientists call Superstring theory, a breakthrough approach to subatomic physics that may finally unite science’s two major building blocks. The Elegant Universe, written by Brian Greene, is the story of the development of string theory and the ramifications it has and will continue to have on science.
